How to lower the bounce rate of your site?

What is Bounce Rate?

Its the percentage of visitors that arrive at a website, and leave within the first 5 seconds(as calculated in Google Analytics) without viewing another page or going any deeper into the site.  This parameter is sufficient to know what visitors think of your site.
If the bounce rate is high then there is something wrong with the landing page. High bounce rate can be because of many reasons
1) Your website design is Horrible
2) Your website doesn't satisfy user purpose.
3) Your website takes a lot of time to load
4) Your website headline is boring
5) Your website has a lot of irrelevant content.

Ways to Decrease Bounce Rate and increase conversion rate

  1. Relevant Content: Fulfill the wishes of the visitors that arrive at your site. Do not distract the visitors by placing irrelevant content if they can't find  what they are after they will leave your site immediately.
  2. Home Page Design: Choose your home page design such that you provide your visitors what they  want at the top of your page. It should be clear and boldly displayed. Use hx tags in your site for displaying your important headlines.
  3. Be Clear: Do not offer multiple things at once. People generally overload their pages with blocks full of content which result in confusing the visitors.
  4. Place Search: Provide your visitors with the option to search on your website at the top. If they cannot find anything interesting on the landing page, they can use search to navigate into the site
  5. Write a Catchy headline: Try interesting headline that catches user attention immediately. Give an attractive teaser text with that headline which drives user to read the whole article.
  6. Remove Popup: If you have popup or any other annoying think on your home page get rid of it immediately. You're losing a lot more than you're gaining and you are distracting serious reader and testing their patience.
  7. Good Content: A well written content with minimum spelling and grammatical error is liked by all visitors. Which is equal to lower bounce rate.

If your still have a high bounce rate, then you're driving the wrong kind of traffic. Don't use wrong headline. Write Meta Description that is related to your content.

Don't Worry about Specific numbers. Don't compare your bounce rate with any other site. A 50% bounce rate is considered ok. While a 30% is considered excellent. Do some research and try different things to bring down your bounce rate.

Have useful quality, fresh content on your site, if you want visitors to stick around, your content should be worth reading and regularly updated. This also ensures that your content gets linked to from other sites, which will in turn increase your traffic.

It's better to focus on your traffic, cause if you have a lot, you can ignore bounce rate, and many other things
