This may sound basic and most of you might know about it, but i feel there are many sites even now that don't have this format.
What is a Spider/Web Crawler?
A spider is a script/bot/software agent the search engines send to a site that collects information about your code content, site popularity (how many sites link to you), etc. Web crawlers are mainly used to create a copy of all the visited pages for later processing by a search engine that will index the downloaded pages to provide fast searches.
There are three HTML tags that every page should have at the top of the page, below the <HEAD> tab: 1) Title Tag 2) Meta Description Tag 3) Meta Keywords Tag In Each of these attributes, you should mention your main keyword at least once and not more than twice. If you get too repetitive, there is a high probability that search engines will ignore the page. Let us optimize a page on "Body care" :
Use H1, H2, H3 tags. Most search engine pay attention to tags inside your header tags. The most important information on your page should be inside the <H1> tag and second under <H2> .., So a page on Body Care will have <H1> Body care for Women </H1> Try placing this tag as close to <body> tag as possible. Note: Years ago this play a very important role in how your pages ranked in the major search engines. Now days content, number of quality backlinks play a major role. Value Exchange Links
As search engine rank sites by Link Popularity. Its not the number of links anymore. The quality of link is more important. Seach engine doesn't care if you have 1000 sites link to you if 900 are irrelevant. Consider you got 30 link partners that agree to do link exchange. If your site niche is not related to theirs, then people visiting their site has nothing to do with your site. Search engine sees this when they spider the net and check for backlink. So they discount many of the links that is not related to your theme. They are viewed as irrelevant from search engine point of view. For example, A health related sites, probably wouldn't generate much interest for people visiting gardening relating site.
Contextual Links
Contextual Links are links that appear within the context of the blog/article. Lets say you have a site on baby food and you see a great article about feeding babies. It would be better to have a link within that site. This helps site owners because the link is surrounded by content that relates to their site. The engine will give them "extra bonus" for having a link in a relevant information. So when you place a link don't place it on sidebar or on seprate page "Partners" or "Links". Not only Search engine search engine ignores it, but so do web-surfers. Review their sites and suggest possible place to add your link and let them review yours and you can do contextual exchange, where link appears in relevant positions.
